Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Our website uses Google cookies which may share certain information with us to help us with marketing. One such use is online retargeting, which is a form of online advertising that allows us and some of our advertising partners to show you advertising based on your browsing patterns and interactions on a site away from us. For example, if we are running a retargeting campaign we may use a cookie to help you see more advertisements about driving or driver education after you leave our website.

Other cookies we use for marketing are for Google Analytics. These cookies help to indicate your interests or demographics for analytics. This will help us keep advertising and web content relevant for our customers. This information may be gathered by or shared with our advertising partners.

If you want to opt out of using these Google cookies, you have options to block them. For example, there are browser add-ons that you can download to prevent the code from sharing information with Google Analytics about your behaviour. If you need help finding or installing these add-ons, please contact our support team at fsisupport@fleetsafetyinternational.com

Course Purchases

When a visitor makes a purchase on this website, some of the personal information they input may be retained. The reasons for the retention of this information include if a charge is disputed by a customer, for tax audition, or for other legal concerns, and we do not share it. For ease of use, when an account is made at checkout an identical account is created automatically on our “moodle” eLearning site. The information stored with this website and on the eLearning site is encrypted. The content and data on our learning platform are also exclusively owned by Fleet Safety International, like this website, and will not be shared or sold.

Since all shop payments are made via PayPal, we do not have access to view or share payment information, as that is kept by PayPal for security purposes. For information on PayPal’s security, please check their website for more information. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of any other site that collects personally identifiable information.

When you provide us with your email address during payment, we will send you emails to notify you of the purchase process and to give you login information. We may also send occasional marketing emails, but we will not sell or rent your personal information to anyone outside our organization. We are the sole owners of the information collected on this site. The Government of Alberta requires us to provide your license number and course status on any courses that issue a Government Certificate. We will not sell or rent this information to anyone. We will use your information to respond to you, regarding the reason you contacted us. We will not share your information with any third party (aside from the Government of Alberta) outside of our organization, other than as necessary to fulfill your request. Unless you ask us not to, we may contact you via email that is listed on this website to tell you about new products or services, changes to this program or other such notifications or changes to this privacy policy.

All our emails will have an unsubscribe option, please use that link if you do not wish to receive them anymore. Alternatively, you can directly email our marketing team at info@fleetsafetyinternational.com to unsubscribe from emails and we will remove you manually.

If at any point you want us to remove all your information from our data across our entire organization, please contact us to request it at our support email: fsisupport@fleetsafetyinternational.com

When visitors leave comments or reviews on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

We will not sell or rent this information to anyone.

We will use your information to respond to you, regarding the reason you contacted us. We will not share your information with any third party (aside from the Government of Alberta) outside of our organization, other than as necessary to fulfill your request. Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Security

We exercise our due diligence to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and offline.

Wherever we collect sensitive information, it is transmitted to us in a secure way. You can verify this by looking for a lock icon in the address bar and looking for “HTTPS” at the beginning of the address of the Web page.

While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, billing or customer service) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers/servers in which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.

In order to use this website, a user must first complete the registration form. During registration, a user is required to give certain information (such as name and email address).

We request information from you when you create an account. To buy from us via Paypal, you must provide contact information (like name and shipping address) and financial information (like credit card number, expiration date). Please be aware that we are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of any other site that collects personally identifiable information.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profiles. Website administrators can also see and edit that information. This information may be shared with our online learning platforms to sync logins between the eLearning system and this website. Both sites are owned by Fleet Safety International and personal data is not shared outside our organization.

You may opt out of any future contacts from us at any time. You can do the following at any time by contacting us via the email address (fsisupport@fleetsafetyinternational.com) or phone number is given on our website or by “opting-out” when a communication is sent to you.

If you feel that we are not abiding by this privacy policy, you should contact us immediately via the contact information listed on our site.
