Instructor Training Programs

Class 1 Training Program
Alberta Government Certified Driving Instructor Program
Pre-Requirements
Class 1 license Less than 6 demerit on current Alberta Drivers License Criminal Record Check

Written Component

Cost: $1,500.00

	There are two government written tests that must be passed with 80% or better. The first is a 50 question, multiple choice, true & false and short answer exam. The second is a 20 question multiple choice exam.

	Pre-Requirements

	Duration:
	This process should take less than a month, however if the student fails their test there is increasingly long wait times before retaking: 1st fail, 1 week; 2nd fail, 2 weeks; 3rd fail, 1 month…

Practical Component

Cost: $3,000.00

	Once the written component is been successfully completed, FSI starts the in-vehicle training. The study materials for this component are already in the study binder provided to the student. It is expected that the student studies and memorizes the practical modules. FSI will supply a senior training instructor and vehicle to train the applicant for 20 hours towards preparing for the practical test. If the student does not have the information memorized or does no self practice, 20 hours may not be enough. Extra instruction can be booked at $85.00/hour.

	Certification
	Once the student has successfully passed both the written and the practical components they will be certified to teach class 1 instruction anywhere in the province of Alberta.

	Additional Costs:
	Some additional costs that the students need to take account that vary per provider are: medical fees, road test fees, and criminal record check fees.
